TR Clubhouse is a blog series on our website highlighting the different clubs and organizations around campus. This issues club is the Asian Pacific American Resource Center, APARC for short! Andrea Carvajal interviewed the resource center.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your organization?
A: Asian Pacific American Resource Center (APARC) empowers and cultivates the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) identity through workshops, dialogues, and cultural events in collaboration with different campus departments. Often, APARC is referred to as a home away from home for many APIDA students, staff, and faculty. APARC also serves as space for our South West Asian North African (SWANA) community.
APARC is housed within Diversity Initiatives & Resource Centers (DIRC) which is home to five identity-based resource centers, including African American Resource Center (AARC), Asian Pacific American Resource Center (APARC), Latinx Community Resource Center (LCRC), LGBT Queer Resource Center (LGBTQRC), and Titan Dreamers Resource Center (TDRC).
Q: What Demographic do you cater to?
A: All CSUF students, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community, and southwest Asian North African (SWANA) community.
Q: What kind of services does your organization offer?
We offer a space for the APIDA/SWANA and all of the CSUF community here at CSUF to come together, learn and grow from one another, feel at home in, and practice self-care! This is done through our events, getting involved, and reaching out if you ever want to chat!
Q: What type of events do you all throw?
A: Our signature programs are community conversations where we invite APIDA identified faculty and staff members to talk about their experiences and connect with our students; community self-care series where we host music, movies, physical and creative sessions; in the spring we have Lunar New Year celebration, APIDA Heritage Month, and APIDA Recognition Celebration.
Q: What is your favorite service your organization offers?
A: Any event that we have where the community comes together and leaves with something, they learned from the event are always our favorites! We do also enjoy our events that highlight an area of social justice and how our community can get involved, learn, and move in the right direction to push the needle forward.
Q: What do your in-person events look like and what do your virtual events look like?
A: Our events look the same whether in person or online! The only thing missing is the in-person aspect (and we miss seeing everyone in person), but we have adapted to online so that students still get the same experience from our events as if they were attending it in person!

What FAQs do you often receive and could you answer them for us right now
We usually get asked how students can get involved and we are always looking for volunteers for our events! We have a lot of big events coming up in the Spring and appreciate all any help and it is a great way to get involved in the APARC community!
