Fall 2019 has been an amazing semester here at Titan Radio! We hired our largest staff ever, broke some large milestones and tried several new ventures for the very first time (such as hosting an art show).
With just a few weeks left in Fall 2019, we are already gearing up for the Spring 2020 semester.
That being said, every semester, all of our staff, interns and volunteers need to reapply. Whether you’ve been with the station for three years or one semester, it doesn’t matter.
All DJs and staff members must reapply for the Spring 2020 semester.
That’s why I decided to write this blog post! I wanted to detail the many options to get involved with Titan Radio and how/where to apply. Please see below…
1. Becoming a DJ on Titan Radio
Every semester, Titan Radio hosts about 80 on-air DJs across our live and pre-recorded shows. These opportunities are open to all those directly tied to CSUF. By this, we mean CSUF students, faculty and staff.
Sorry, alumni. 🙁
To become a DJ, you do not need any prior audio experience! We will teach you everything you need to know. All you need is a good personality and a passion to learn (a solid show concept doesn’t hurt either).
Being a DJ is a very low time commitment. You will be the host of your own radio show which will air once a week for one hour.
You can apply to become a DJ with us by filling out this form! We will be accepting submissions until the day after Discoverfest (January 31, 2020).
If you have any further questions about becoming a DJ, please email our on-air programming director, Eilish at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2. Getting an internship with Titan Radio
In case you didn’t know, Titan Radio offers internship positions for academic credit! So if you are in a major that requires an internship (for example, Communications), you may want to consider completing your internship with us!
Our interns are an essential part of Titan Radio’s workflow. They work side-by-side with our paid staff members and hold just as much value.
Unlike other internships, you will be challenged to self-start your own passion projects. We encourage our internships to find problems in our current structure and attempt to fix them.
Our internships are also much more fluid than our staff positions, meaning we can adjust them to fit an individual’s needs.
For example, we had someone apply for our music internship position but after interviewing them we noticed they had a passion for graphic design and art. So we created a brand new internship position just based around the skills and desires of this qualified applicant.
If you would like to apply to be an intern with us, please search “Titan Radio” on Titan Connection and browse our many positions.
We will accept applications until early February. However, be aware that we usually assemble our team by mid-January so I encourage you to apply early.
If you have any questions about internships, please email me at email@example.com.
3. Joining the Titan Radio paid staff
Lastly, our Titan Radio staff members are the driving force behind everything we do. We are able to offer CSUF students paid, hourly part-time work learning important career skills right here on campus!
These positions are very competitive but I still encourage everyone to apply! The more you show your drive to myself and other Titan Radio leadership, the more likely we are to bring you on to our staff (whether that be in Spring 2020 or in the future).
Like our internships, we are very flexible with student schedules for these positions. As a part of CSUF, we understand that your academics come first. We have a very lenient scheduling policy and are willing to accommodate midterms and finals craziness.
You can find postings for our staff positions on Titan Connection as well. Just look up “Titan Radio” in the search bar.
We will accept applications for paid staff positions until early January.
If you have any questions about staff roles, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are so many ways to get involved with Titan Radio, even beyond being a DJ, intern or staff member!
