Festival Review // Camp Flog Gnaw
By Jaselle Monzon
Last weekend Tyler, The Creator successfully launched Camp Flog Gnaw music festival
for the sixth year in a row. Thousands gathered in Exposition Park, located in Los
Angeles, California, eager and wide-eyed in preparation to witness some of their favorite
Tyler created (no pun intended) a weird and enchanting two-day experience for
festival-attendees. Here one was able to ride classic carnival rides, eat and drink various
types of carnival-esque food, and of course experience live shows from a number of
artists. Headliners ranged from Lana Del Rey to Kid Cudi to Tyler, The Creator himself.
The diverse acts sprinkled in amongst the rap are one of the many things that make Camp
Flog Gnaw so interesting.
A surprise guest appearance by Mac DeMarco was completely unexpected. His
performance was short and sweet, with a few new songs and a few old songs, some
dating back to his very first album. Tyler performed many songs from his newest album
Flower Boy and received bouts of praise from the audience as expected. Camp Flog
Gnaw has successfully survived another year, and Tyler continues to prove though he is
young, he is capable of creating something incredible.
